Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PwIDD) have long been neglected by society. However, positive changes are emerging due to NGO efforts, Central and State government policies, and increased awareness from parents and the donor's support. Despite all this progress, much more work still remains incomplete.
There is a great need to bring about a basic change in our perception and orientation of this challenge of Intellectual Disability.
As a small initiative toward addressing this significant need of the society, Chetana Apangmati Vikas Sanstha, was established in 1986 at Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India.
